Ice
Bucket Challenge
Time
to Get Drenched For A Cause | ALS | #IceBucketChallenge
The Ice Bucket Challenge, sometimes called the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, is a charming attempt to raise ALS awareness by an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice water on one's head or donating to the ALS Association in the United States. It went viral throughout social media, where the challenge was to either dump a bucket of ice water on one's head or donate to an ALS charity of the participant's choice.
In the United Kingdom, people have been doing a similar kind of challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support, calling it the Macmillan Ice Bucket Challenge. Participants text ICE to 70550 to pay £3 for taking part, or FINE to pay £10 for wimping out.
It's simple. Just challenge someone via Facebook/ Twitter or anyother social media platform to have a bucket of ice-cold water poured over their head in exchange for a text donation to ALS. Film it, share it, and then sit back and watch the nomination process take over.
Sounds brilliant. What do I need?
A bucket
Ice
A smartphone
A towel
A change of clothes (highly recommended)
Immense bravery
Right. Got all that. What do I do now?
1. Fill the bucket with iced water
2. Pour it on your head
3. Film this on your smartphone
4. Post the video to Facebook / Twitter
5. Text to Donate £3 to Macmillan by sending ICE to 70550
6. Nominate your friends / enemies to do it next
Now that people like Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber etc have taken part, this thing is catching on like wildfire.
Here’s a few of our favorites.
Thanks,
